A Campus Conceived as a Mandala: The Four Veda Gateways
Four gateways named for the four Vedas, water and gardens arranged so that every walk becomes a parikrama — how the Punyabhoomi masterplan thinks.
Most large destinations begin with a road plan. Punyabhoomi begins with a mandala. In the envisioned masterplan, the sacred precincts sit at the heart of the 500 acres, and everything else — culture, learning, wellness, nature, hospitality — is arranged around that centre in rings of quietening intensity.
Four Vedas, four welcomes
Four grand gateways, named for the Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva Vedas, are planned to receive visitors from every direction. Each dwar opens onto its own processional approach to the central mandir precinct, so that arrival itself becomes the first ritual of the visit.
Every walk a parikrama
Between the gateways, water bodies, gardens and courts are being arranged so that natural movement through the campus traces a circumambulation. Pilgrims have always walked around what they revere; at Punyabhoomi, the land itself is being shaped to make that instinct effortless.
Movement is planned the way a pilgrimage moves — on foot where it matters, assisted by electric shuttles where it helps, and always oriented toward the temples. It is architecture in service of bhakti, not the other way around.
